Rice harvesting in northern Iran begins in early August. Traditionally, farmers used to harvest rice by hand using sickles — a labor-intensive process that required skill and teamwork. Today, much of the harvesting is done with mechanical harvesters that speed up the process while still requiring local expertise.
Rice is one of the most important crops in Iran, especially in the northern provinces. It plays a central role in the daily diet of Iranians and in the economy of rural communities.
