UNBOXING - PPS XM26 | AIRSOFT
Since my Masterkey build was rather complicated and lengthy, I decided to get my hands on a PPS XM26 magazine fed shotgun that’s ready out of the box.

STEP 1: PACKAGING
Instead of adding extra protective packing they simply sent it in the production box. This is not a great start. I will try not to let this color my opinion.
Foam guts everywhere!
Apparently Jack the Ripper works at PPS.
In the box we find the PPS XM26 itself, randomly tossed into the box, and ….. No No No, Nononono you ugly mother f….
THIS IS WHY PPS IS GOING BANKRUPT!
PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME TOUCH IT! I FEEL SO DIRTY!
STEP2: CONTENTS
In the box we find the pps xm26, a magazine, a mounting hardware for a M4 carbine, a manual, a gas loading tool and two shells to fill my five round mag with....
Pew, pew, done…
The PPS XM26 looks good from afar, but is far from good.
Even before it’s out of the box, the paint has started to chip. And badly so.
Most major components are made of aluminium on this contraption.
But despite this something feels kinda… off, in lack of a better word.
The plastic bits are cheap and sub-standard.
But most remarkably the picatinny, standoff device and front sight are plastic.
Who thought that was a good idea?

STEP 3: SHELLS
Over to the shells,
In order to prepare them I must first place the gas tool on a flat surface, then place a shell on the gas tool, so the gas does not escape and then insert up to three BB’s.
If you are like me and don't like the Tanaka-style shells, I also tried using APS-shells in this replica.
Spoiler: it did not go well.
This is due to the APS rim having a sharp edge which makes them overlap to the rear in the mag.
I could probably get the shotgun to fire APS shells, but getting the mag to feed them is the real challenge.
I load the 5rnd magazine with the two shells.

The magazine is of the rock-in type, like AK’s, G3’s, M14’s, and so on. It is quite hard to angle the mag correctly so it locks into the magwell. The strong magspring adds insult to injury.
I guess it’s a matter of training, but I just don’t get any feedback from my attempts.
Let's, carefully, test fire this thing… I guess.
STEP 4: QUALITY
The bolt and charging handle is quite wibbly-wobbly. There’s lots of play in the receiver, and the charging handle will only work properly, or at all, in the 9 o'clock position. Working the action with the handle in the 12 or 6 o'clock position is nigh impossible.
If this is by design or by accident, I have no idea.
By the way If you want to empty your chamber without pulling the trigger, the action release is located just in front of the trigger guard.
STEP 5: MOUNTING
This wouldn't be a real unboxing if I just left it as a standalone…
First I secure the mounting hardware on my M4.
Remove the lower handguard.
Punch out the pin on the XM26 receiver.
Remove the pin and stock.
Make sure the XM26’s sights are flipped down.
Insert the rear mounting point into the M4 delta ring.
Secure the front XM26 mount with the included pin.
STEP 6: VERDICT
The only positive note about this replica is that it's substantially lighter than my cam870 masterkey.
But XM26, are you a math textbook? Because you got a lot of problems…
The only reason you’d ever buy one of these things is for the collector value, or if you really, really need one for your impression/cosplay.
