Mark Smith, LCSW discusses how respect can really sour in a marriage over time and how to reverse that process once it has happened.

Mark Smith founded Family Tree Counseling Associates in September of 1989. He has a B.A. in Sociology from Purdue University. He did his graduate work in Clinical Social Work with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy at Michigan State University. Many couples who have been stuck trying other approaches have gotten unstuck utilizing his directive, abrasive and intense style. Insight can shift the entire focus of a relationship. Mark has completed Modules 1 and 2 of Patrick Carnes Certified Sexual Addiction Counselor training.

The focus of his practice is shifting towards couples suffering from affairs and to helping individuals, couples and families with sexual addiction issues. However, the bread and butter of Marks practice continues to be basic hard fought marriage counseling with couples who have drifted apart through the years. His hobbies include basketball, motorcycle riding, writing, poetry,travel and movies. He is a Recovering Counterdependent, Workaholic and Relationship Addict. Mark is bursting with insights primarily because he has done a great deal of work on his own issues. He has three amazing kids aged 23, 20 and 18 who give him great joy.
