Green Labels - Kawale (Live From ZNBC Studio)

Green Lables hit song Kawale performed at the Mass media complex, live from ZNBC Studios.

The Zambia National Service sponsored Green Labels Band well remembered for their hit song ‘’Kawale’’, ‘’Kwacha Ngwee’’ and ‘’Amalwele Yafulisha’’. After these singles hit, the band faced some problems and split into two groups. One group called themselves Shalawambe (meaning ‘’stay behind and gossip’’) led by Emmanuel Dolenzy Kabwe whilst the other retained the name Green Labels.

The Shalawambe faction settled at a farm in Luanshya’s Fisenge area on the Copperbelt and were composed of 80% of members from the same family i.e. three brothers Dolenzy Kabwe, Julius Chanda & Claude Kabwe and their cousin Rick Chota. The only non-family member was Gerald Bwalanda.

Both Green Labels and Shalawambe Bands are still in existence up until now. However, the Luanshya settlers has since recruited new members: Clement Chilufya (lead vocals), Wise Mtonga (rhythm guitar) and Timothy Mwape (bass).
