"Ninipo" is a charming and lilting melody, one that lends itself to a slack key arrangement. But according to this essay https://apps.ksbe.edu/kaiwakiloumoku/... by Kīhei de Silva the story behind the song is a lament for a failed relationship and a yearning for something better.
Led recorded a lovely instrumental version on his "Black Sand" CD and I used his version as the inspiration for my video back in 2010. We've been playing the song together a lot lately so it seemed like a good time for a duet video. I didn't get the exposure quite right but I enjoyed the music so much that I decided to keep the clip.
Led and I are playing our main stage guitars - Led on his Martin 000-16 and me with my beloved Wingert EC. Both guitars are tuned to taropatch open G (D G D G B D from low pitch to high). You can see the pair of Shure KSM141 mics and the Zoom F6 along the bottom of the scene. I used REAPER to fine tune levels and convert the audio from 32 bit float to 24 bit WAV then edited the video in Edius.
