Daniel Foster, M.D., had been a top medical student at UTSW who was persuaded to return and join the faculty. In 1987, he would be asked to serve again -- as Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Foster was enjoying his distinguished career as a physician/scientist at UTSW when two Nobel Laureates came calling with a request. He would become the new Chair of Internal Medicine and over the next 16 years bring in new subspecialty chiefs, create new programs, and focus on residents.
