Gagaku is a traditional Japanese performing art that took shape in the Heian period (794 to the end of the 12th century). It combines ancient Japanese song and dance with music and dance forms imported from continental China and the Korean peninsula.
At this performance, we showcase the fascinating gagaku preserved in Osaka as presented by Tennōji Gakuso Garyōkai, the organization that has inherited the style and long tradition of the Tennōji Gakuso gagaku troupe.
Please enjoy the world of gagaku through its vibrant and unique sounds and the dynamic and distinctive musical dance performances of Tennōji Gakuso Garyōkai.
