Mozart: Piano Sonata No. 13 in B-flat Major, K. 333
This work was composed in 1778, a period marked by Mozart’s psychological distress following the death of his mother and other personal hardships. It represents a time of crisis and transformation in his life. However, research on Mozart’s autograph manuscript, preserved in the Berlin State Library, reveals that the paper used corresponds to that produced in the region near Linz, Austria. In addition, the first edition, published by the Traetzler firm in Vienna in August 1784, supports the view that the work was in fact composed during Mozart’s brief stay in Linz in 1783.
