Leaving the Biedouw Valley behind after traversing over the well-known Hoek-se-berg Pass, we were looking forward to travel to Nieuwoudtville on a route we haven’t done before. The most beautiful view greeted us coming down the Klipfonteinrant Pass and even more breath-taking was the continuous spread of flowers on our left and right for kilometres on end. The Botterkloof Pass has a very steep incline and can be dangerously slippery when driven in wet weather - luckily the road was dry during our trip. Sonja has a fear of heights so it took quite some encouragement from me to get her out of the car to take a few snaps. The last stretch towards Nieuwoudtville surprised us with oodles of yellow Bulbinellas (cat’s tails or “katsterte” in Afrikaans) as did the colourful flower palette in town. The final route to Grasberg Guest Farm was a reminder of the recent heavy rains and more was on the way. Our pit-stop for the next two nights at Grasberg was the quaint Bella Donna cottage, which had everything we needed
