Conrail, Amtrak, RF&P, MARC, Chessie System, Norfolk Southern 1986-1987 (Part 2.2 of 4)

East Coast Rails to the West 1986-1987 (Parts 1-4). Amtrak's Capitoliners and Philadelphia SEPTA commuter trains whisk along the high-speed electrified Harrisburg line in 1986. Brill "Bullets" on the Norristown High Speed Line are also included. Steam tourist routes include the Blue Mountain & Reading and Strasburg Rail Road. Conrail freights climb through the Appalachian Mountains and around the famous Horseshoe Curve. South of Washington DC, long freight trains traverse the old Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac. In 1987, MARC Budd Rail Diesel Cars served commuters on Chessie System's Baltimore & Ohio railroad. Also included, Norfolk Southern freights in Georgia and Virginia. Then out west, Union Pacific trains hustle across Nebraska. Finally, Burlington Northern, Rio Grande and Santa Fe freights champion the Palmer Divide on Colorado's Joint Line. Pre-merger railroads operated freights with cabooses during this final era.
