[Portuguese] Aruni van Amstel dedica boa parte de seu tempo fora da sala de aula investigando sobre assuntos que lhe interessam, a partir dos quais ele aprende muito, mas que não estão diretamente associados com o conteúdo ensinado na escola. Todos esses interesses e a sua curiosidade para entendê-los surgiram a partir de experiências marcantes que Aruni teve em sua vida. A partir disso, ele questiona: se não temos experiências marcantes nas escolas, como é que o que estudamos em sala pode ser interessante?

[English] Aruni van Amstel invests most of his time outside clasroom investigating issues that interest him, from which he learns a lot, but that are not directly associated with the content taught in school. These interests and his curiosity to understand them were a product of remarkable experiences that Aruni had. Based on that, he asks: if you don't have remarkable experiences in school, how can things that we study in classroom be interesting?

[Portuguese] Aruni van Amstel brinca de programar no computador desde criança. Criado numa família construtivista, Aruni aprendeu a não ter medo de caixa preta. Aruni estuda numa escola tradicional, como qualquer outro adolescente de mesma idade. Em casa, porém, ele estuda não só o que a escola propõe, mas também os assuntos que são de seu próprio interesse, tais como urbanismo, ambientalismo, arquitetura e busologia.

[English] Aruni van Amstel codes for fun since he was a child. He was raised in a constructivist family, who taught him not to be afraid of the unknown. Aruni studies in a traditional school, as any other teenager of his age. At home, however, he studies not only what the school requires him to study but also subjects on which he is interested such as urbanism, environmentalism, architecture and mass transit systems.
