Program Notes:
"Tyler Mazone (he/him), born in 1998, is a deaf and neurodivergent bass clarinetist and composer from Michigan, who is working towards a Doctorate in Composition at Michigan State University. Mazone primarily composes chamber, solo, and large ensemble music and has had works performed and commissioned by professional ensembles such as The _____ Experiment, The US Air Force Band, The Reverón Trio, Imani Winds, Michigan State University Bands and Orchestras, Yale Concert Band, University of Illinois Bands, and the Crane Wind Ensemble. Additionally, individuals/organizations such as Andrew Hosler, Jennifer Oliverio, Diversify the Stand, Royal Irish Academy of Music, and the Hopkins & Keach Duo have commissioned and performed Mazone’s works.
Mazone describes the work as being 'in a field, trotting and feeling all the wonderful grass and flowers all around you. It is a perfectly sunny day with no clouds in sight. There are butterflies and bees flying around pollinating flowers and various other plants. Out in the distance, you see a house in the middle of it. As you walk towards it, you feel everything beginning to slip away. Even as kind people start to come out and greet you. You wake up, with the final threads of the Warm Field Dream still hanging onto your mind…'
This is the Canadian premiere of Warm Field Dreams."
