Ph.D. student Jazmin Argueta-Rivera is shaping the future of work through her research in industrial-organizational psychology at Rice University. Her work explores the workplace experiences of people from marginalized backgrounds, focusing on issues such as discrimination, negotiation, recruitment, and well-being.
Beyond the lab, Jazmin is an advocate and leader. She has served as President of Latinx Grads, building community among Latino graduate students, and now serves as Vice President of Equity & Inclusion for the Graduate Student Association, where she champions policies that foster belonging across campus.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, Jazmin shares how her family’s story, her research, and her advocacy come together to inspire change in both academia and the workplace.
