【京都／日本遺産】智恩寺／日本三文殊 - Chion-ji Temple in KYOTO, JAPAN -

智恩寺は、京都府宮津市にある臨済宗妙心寺派の寺院。日本三景天橋立の南端に佇む名刹です。
奈良県桜井市の安倍文殊院（安倍文殊）、山形県高畠町の大聖寺（亀岡文殊）とともに日本三文殊の一つとされています。
「三人寄れば文殊の知恵」の諺で知られる“智恵の仏様”文殊菩薩が本尊として祀られ、学業成就を願う参拝者が全国各地から訪れています。
智恩寺は、平成29年（2017年）「日本遺産」の「丹後ちりめん回廊」を構成する文化財のひとつに認定されました。
天橋立観光の際は、ぜひ足を運んでみてください。美しい海辺に佇む珍しい名刹です。

Chionji Temple is a temple of the Myoshinji sect of the Rinzai sect in Bunju, Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is a famous temple standing at the foot of Amanohashidate, one of the three most scenic spots in Japan.
Chion-ji Temple is one of the three Monju temples in Japan, together with Monju-in Temple (Monju Abe) in Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture and Daishoji Temple (Monju Kameoka) in Takahata Town, Yamagata Prefecture.
Monju Bosatsu, the Buddha of wisdom, is enshrined as the principal deity of the temple, which is known by the proverb, "Three people together have Monju's wisdom, and visitors come from all over Japan to pray for the success of their studies.
Chionji Temple was recognized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2017 as one of the cultural assets comprising the Tango Chirimen Corridor, a "Japan Heritage".
It is a famous temple that you should visit when sightseeing in Amanohashidate.It is a rare and famous temple located on a beautiful seaside.
