The iconic view of Yosemite Valley as one enters from the west. Often called the “Tunnel View”, the granite peaks and bluffs frame the valley as it extends eastward after driving out of a tunnel on highway 41 into the park. Famed photographers like Ansel Adams and visiting tourists since the days of Kodaks and now digital cameras have framed the valley with their lens from this spot.
If you are in a mood to hike, there is a trail across the road from the parking lot for a higher view.. It is steep and rocky, but personally, I think the view is just is good from the road as up high, although it is easier up there to get a good picture without someone’s head and hairdo getting in the way.
