A demonstration of how to make an easy and effective Punty for blown glass.
A Punty (or Pontil or Punti) is a small amount of hot glass on the end of a steel rod that's used to reverse the axis of an object—for example a cup—and open it. This is an introduction to the principles behind simple punty construction and shape. Also, a brief discussion of some of the problems often encountered in making punties.
Demonstrated by Professor Davin Ebanks at Kent State University.
