The Shepherd’s Daughter (Trad)
A knight takes a maid's virginity and she appeals to the king for justice. He promises to hang the knight if he is already married or to make him marry her if he is single. The knight tries to bribe her to forget him, but she insists on the wedding. They marry and the knight regrets it instantly;
“I wish I were drinking a bath of water instead of drinking wine
Before an old shepherd’s daughter would have been a bride of mine
I wish I were drinking white wine instead of drinking red
Before an old shepherd’s daughter did take me to my wedding bed”
