Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla Lux Mohlauli has been released on bail after spending four nights behind bars. He appeared before the Roodepoort Magistrate's court earlier, where the R1500 bail was granted. As part of his bail conditions, Mohlauli will have to hand over his passport to the investigating officer, and he won't be allowed to leave the province until the conclusion of his trial. Lux is facing charges of house breaking, theft and malicious damage to property. Last week, an elderly man laid charges of breaking and entering, intimidation as well as assault against Lux at the Dobsonville police station, in Soweto. The man says he was assaulted by Operation Dudula members after they broke into his home, accusing him of being a drug dealer.
