UBC Advanced Research Computing hosted a week long UBC Research Computing Back to School Bootcamp from Oct 3-7, 2022. When working with large amounts of data, finding adequate storage space can be a challenge. This session will introduce UBC ARC Chinook (Chinook), an object storage platform housed at UBC and designed to retain large amounts of data, as well as Globus, which is a secure and efficient tool to transfer large amounts of data. After introducing Chinook and its use cases, attendees will be walked through a hands-on demonstration of how to set up a Chinook allocation with Globus, how to share allocations and collections, as well as how to transfer data to and from Sockeye.
