Tarawera Ultra-Trail by UTMB T102 - 104.9km (altered course) with 2,491m elevation gain.
Rotorua, New Zealand - 17 February 2024
Tarawera Ultra-Trail by UTMB T102 is New Zealand's premier 100km run and one of the most scenic ultra marathon runs in the world. It is held in Rotorua, New Zealand’s birthplace of tourism.
Starting at Te Puia, home of the world-famous Pohutu Geyser, the route runs through forests, past lakes and down trails, soaking up the most spectacular landscapes the region has to offer.
The highlights include running along five different lakes, native bush on the Western Okataina track, the towering redwoods, steam alongside the trail at Sulphur Point and finishing at the Village Green in downtown Rotorua.
The course features a combination of trails and forestry roads with native New Zealand bush, conifer forest, farmland, parkland and thermal landscapes, and is on mostly non-technical runnable terrain.
Finishing stats: 18:27:33 | 425th out of 645 finishers (80 DNFs)
Run with Brent Westein (longest ultra) and Sue Meltzer (won 70-74 AG)
