This is PART 3 - full comparison recording on this channel, link under video! My Steinway & Sons Model B piano, built in 1966 in NYC - versus my C. Bechstein Model IV piano, built in 1899 in Berlin, Germany, and fully restored recently. This is the latest in my series - Bechstein vs. Steinway - in which I play the same piece of music on each of these pianos back-to-back, alternating in each video which piano goes first. In this video I play the Chopin Etude Nouvelle in F Minor.
The two pianos are similar lengths: The Steinway B is 6 ' 10 1/2" and the C. Bechstein is 7" 2". I think both of these pianos sound beautiful in quite different ways. What do you think? Which piano do you prefer and why? And what is your favorite piano brand? Or favorite piano for particular composers or genres of music? Let me know in the Comments!
