Uplifting Tour at Europoint IV in Rotterdam, Netherlands

Europoint 4 is a 22-storey office building with 9 elevators (now with an additional platform elevator). Also known as the Rotterdam Science Tower.

There are three buildings of that sort but the others were restricted and our request of getting in has been declined. This is REALLY annoying as the elevators in the other two blocks are original (at least the call station was)! The elevator layout is similar in all buildings (in Europoint only the old original layout :P). The elevators in Europoint 4 have been modernized. Shit!

Originally, there was a set of four low-rise elevators, going from ground floor to 11, then a set of four high-rise elevators going from ground floor and mezzanine non-stop to floor 11, serving all floors from there to floor 21. And there is a big service elevator going from ground floor to floor 22. Scroll down to see a list of all of the elevators here.

The low-rise part of this building now gets used by different owners. On ground floor and floors 1-7 there is a school, which uses three out of four elevators of the low-rise elevators. The other institution has a separate entrance. It uses mezzanine and the floors 8-10. The high-rise elevators also start at mezzanine. Because there is no public elevator going between ground floor and mezzanine, they added a platform elevator to solve that.

There were security desks at both entrances and turnstiles at the school section. But unlike Europoint 1 and 2, they were not so scared and let us in. The other person with me was DutchElevatorChannel. That deserves a big "thank you" :) .
