The first stop for us in Vermont for our weekend trip was the city of Burlington to see VTR's Champlain Valley Dinner Train with GP40PH-2 313. The 313 is formerly NJTR 4137, having been built for New Jersey Transit by Morrison-Knudsen in 1987 out of a GP40 originally built for the New York Central. After its departure from service with NJT in 2006, the 4137 ended up with a multitude of railroads. This included a lease with Agence Métropolitaine de Transport (AMT) in Quebec in 2011 before being returned to NJT, and sold to the the Saratoga & North Creek Railway (SNC) in 2014. From there it went to the Iowa Pacific under SLGR reporting marks before ending up with the Vermont Railway in 2020. In this video you'll see the Dinner Train make its run out of Burlington South to Vergennes with the VTR 207, before returning North with the 313 leading the way. Enjoy!
