Rust Sucks!!!! 1986 Toyota Pickup Gets New Shocks

Our 1986 Toyota Pickup, that we bought at Mecum, had almost all original parts, to include the 40-year-old rusty shocks. We ordered some new KYB shocks (made in Japan) from O'Rielly's and picked them up the next day. Then the real fun began. Shocks on this truck should be about an hour job if you take your time, but not when "Rust" is involved.
So, 2 new tools (not necessarily a bad thing), 2 snapped shocks, 1 snapped bolt, 4 new bolts, and 5 hours later we finally got the new shocks in. Yes, I literally had to twist off (break) the threaded part at the top of the front shocks to get them out. Thank goodness for vice grips and 6 point closed end wrenches.
Hope she rides better now!!!!!
