UK police chiefs have been grilled in Parliament after an intelligence dossier used to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters from a match at Aston Villa was found to contain a completely fabricated fixture. Lawmakers accused West Midlands Police of “fitting evidence to a solution”, while Dutch police disputed claims that Maccabi fans sparked large-scale violence in Amsterdam. Chief Constable Craig Guildford insisted his force acted with “integrity”, blaming Dutch commanders for the information — even as MPs demanded answers over contradictory accounts and missing verification. The Israeli government has called the fan ban “antisemitism”.
