Welcome to this video where we will be discussing the pronunciation rules for Arabic Harakaat.

In Arabic, Harakaat are the diacritical marks used to indicate the short vowels, namely Fathah [Zabar], Kasrah [Zayr], and Dammah [Paysh]. The plural of Harakah is ‘Harakaat’. Fathah [Zabar] and Dammah [Paysh] are placed above the letter, while Kasrah [Zayr] is placed underneath it. The letter that has a Harakah on it is called ‘Mutaharrik[ah]’.

To pronounce the Fathah [Zabar], you need to open your mouth and raise your voice. For Kasrah [Zayr], you need to drop your voice, and for Dammah [Paysh], you need to round your lips. It is important to note that when pronouncing the Harakaat, you should do so in an Arabic accent without stretching or suddenly pausing the voice.

In some cases, a Harakah or Sukoon may be present on an "Alif". In such cases, you should pronounce it as Hamzah. Also, when the letter ‘ر Ra ‘has a Fathah [Zabar] or Dammah [Paysh] on it, you should pronounce it with a thick tone. On the other hand, if the letter ‘ر Ra ‘ has a Kasrah [Zayr] below it, you should pronounce it with a thin tone. By following these pronunciation rules for Arabic Harakaat, you will be able to speak Arabic with clarity and accuracy. Remember to practice these rules regularly to improve your pronunciation.
