📖 Scripture: Genesis Chapter 3
🎧 Content: Bible Meditation · Scripture Reflection · Old Testament Study
Genesis chapter 3 records
the fall of humanity—
but it is not only a chapter of judgment.
It is also the chapter where the first promise of redemption is spoken.
The serpent does not begin by denying God outright.
Instead, he questions God’s word,
distorting truth and planting doubt.
The woman listens.
The man remains silent.
And in that silence,
trust in God is replaced by self-judgment.
Sin enters not merely through disobedience,
but through a shift of trust—
from God’s word to human desire.
Shame follows.
Fear replaces fellowship.
Humanity hides from the very God
who once walked with them.
Yet God does not abandon His creation.
He comes searching, asking,
“Where are you?”
Even as judgment is pronounced,
grace is woven into the story.
In Genesis 3:15,
God promises that the offspring of the woman
will one day crush the serpent’s head—
the first announcement of the gospel.
And when Adam and Eve stand exposed in their shame,
God covers them,
clothing them with garments of skin—
a quiet sign of mercy and sacrifice.
