Hi there! FreshCareers
Are you applying for jobs but not hearing back — even when you're a perfect fit?
Chances are, your resume is getting filtered out by something called an ATS.
ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System.
It’s the software that companies use to scan and sort resumes before a human recruiter even sees them.
And if your resume isn’t formatted the right way, it might never make it past that initial scan.
So, let’s talk about how to build an ATS-compatible resume — one that both bots and humans will love.
First, formatting is everything.
Stick to a clean, simple design. Use standard fonts like Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman.
Avoid using tables, text boxes, columns, or graphics — because most ATS software can’t read them correctly.
Save your file as a .docx or .pdf — but only use PDF if the job post says it’s okay.
Next, use standard headings. Keep it straightforward with titles like “Work Experience,” “Education,” “Skills,” and “Certifications.”
Avoid creative alternatives like “What I’ve Done” or “My Journey” — the ATS won’t recognize them.
And there you have it!
Your resume is your first impression — make sure it reaches the right hands by making it ATS-friendly.
Thanks for watching — and good luck with your job hunt!
