Illegal coal transportation continues to plague the Assam-Meghalaya border via the Boko–Hahim route, with grossly overloaded trucks (carrying up to 45 tonnes) rapidly destroying the newly built road and posing a severe risk to public safety. Despite the danger—including frequent accidents, traffic blockages, and snapped electricity lines—the Assam Transport Department remains indifferent.
