Saturday, February 26, 2022. was another Diamond Bar High School Science Olympiad competition. One of the 26 events involves designing and building a standard rubber band powered airplane that stays aloft for over two minutes.Believe it or not, one of the problems to be overcome is to keep the plane from flying too high and flying into any number of obstacles hanging from the roof of a normal high school gym. Even if the little plane strikes a light or a support beam, it recovers very impressively and still remains a lot for a considerable amount of time. On the final attempt, they finally achieved a flight that dodged every single object in the gym and the little plane stayed aloft for two minutes and 27 seconds. This group placed first in this competition in the last invitational, so we will see how it goes this time! If you want to see the final flight only, go to about 12 minutes and 30 seconds in.
