Make a Tassel and Pom Pom Technique ||

TO START || Get your materials. Start with the circular C template to make pom poms, holding your yarn and template together in one hand, wrap the trailing yarn around the template repeatedly, by pulling the yarn around the template covering about 2/3rds of the template.

FIRST STEP || Once the template is full, cut the yarn and then along the outer edge of the template. Once all the yarn is cut, take an additional piece of yarn and tie it around the poof of yarn on the template. Pull the template of the template - and trim the yarn to make even pieces.

ADVANCED POM POMS || Try making a variety of sizes and colors using the same steps. Add different color of yarn overlapping on the template. Layer different colors of yarn, or overlap segments, to create an abstract pattern.

MAKE TASSELS || Use the rectangular template in the kit to make tassels. How a piece of yarn in one hand with the template, with the other hand wrap the template with the trailing yarn, from top to the bottom of the template, along the outer edge of the template multiple times to make a thick wrap of yarn.

NEXT || Cut the yarn and tuck the tail into the wrapped chunk of yarn. Cut a 6" inch piece of additional yarn, slide it under the wrapped portion, tie a double knot at the top of the tassel. Cut another piece of yarn and weave it through the slit portion of the template. Wrap around both sides - creating a neck on your tassel. Slide the tassel off the template and cut the yarn at only the bottom. Continue the same step to make tassels in varying sizes.

TIP: You can use multiple strands of yarn at the same time to make a multi color tassel using the same wrapping technique.

DIP DYE FABRIC || To create dip dyed look, to a half cup of water - add a heavy dose of white fabric paint. The mixture should be watery yet opaque. Stir well. Dip the tassel into the mixture leaving the top portion dry. Squeeze out extra water from the tassel and set aside to dry.

TIP: Do not wring out the water completely as it will remove the color.

ASSEMBLE GARLAND || Loop one end of yarn with a know. Thread the sewing needle onto the thread and sew the pom pom and tassels on. Assemble in any pattern you like and be creative!

TIP: Adjust the spacing as desired when hanging the garland. Note the varying technique of threading from the side of a tassel or the alternative method bottom to the top.

WALL HANGING || Set paint lines with painters tape. Paint the dowel ends in a pattern of stripes. Once the strand is complete tie to the dowel.

◦ twine

◦ scissors

◦ wooden dowl, paint and painters tape.
◦ for dip dyed garland: white fabric paint, water and cup to mix paint
