If you’ve ever searched YouTube for buying land or off-grid living, you’ve probably come across the name Wayne Turner. I’ve followed Wayne for quite some time, and after one of his comments encouraged me to reach out, he personally called me, listened to our situation, and truly understood that our homestead isn’t likely a first-time homebuyer property.
In this video, I’m sharing the very beginning of our journey—starting with interviewing real estate agents. Wayne is a wealth of knowledge, and being able to ask real questions about selling a homestead was invaluable. He also connected us with another realtor who has a strong land background, and we’re also speaking with a realtor we’ve worked with before when buying and selling a traditional home.
This is your reminder to never be afraid to interview multiple realtors. Selling your home can be emotional, but it’s also a business transaction. Just like a job interview, the conversation should go both ways. Ask about their background, experience with land or off-grid properties, and how they approach selling unique homes.
I know this process can feel long—especially during the winter months—so while we wait, we’ve been decluttering and deep cleaning our home. I wanted to share this journey from the very beginning, not just the highlight reel of “we bought land and we’re homesteading.” I want you to see the full process of selling, buying our next homestead, and setting up the systems needed for another off-grid life.
