東京メトロ千代田線（北綾瀬支線）・東武鉄道大師線前面展望 ＜Cabview Japanrail Tokyo metro Chiyoda Line ・TOBU Railway Daishi Line)＞

Following on from last time's look at Keio Corporation's branch lines, I'll introduce two other lines where the terminus is the next station.

The first is the Kita-Ayase Branch Line of Tokyo Metro's Chiyoda Line. Tokyo Metro is an underground railway company with approximately 195 km of tracks in Tokyo, but it also has a small section that runs above ground.

The Kita-Ayase Branch Line of the Chiyoda Line that I'll introduce this time is one of them. Legally, this line is part of the Chiyoda Line, but most trains do not enter this line. Instead, they connect to JR lines at Ayase Station, where the branch line branches off, and the section between Ayase and Kita-Ayase is also known as the Kita-Ayase Branch Line.

Originally built to provide access to a train depot, this line began passenger service as the population along the line grew, and the depot is located beyond its terminus, Kita-Ayase Station. The blue EMU featured in this footage is an Odakyu Electric Railway limited express train that operates on the Chiyoda Line, and is parked in the Kita-Ayase depot during turnaround times.

The Tobu Railway Daishi Line was built to transport pilgrims to the temple (Soji Temple, also known as Nishi-Arai Daishi) near the end of this station. There were plans to extend the line further in the past, but the increase in buildings along the line made track construction difficult, and the plans were scrapped. The station's spacious platform suggests that there are days when it is bustling with pilgrims, but on most days it is quiet and deserted. Souvenir shops and restaurants line the path leading from the station to the temple.
