Ready to make your own Play-Doh? In this episode of Kate’s Inspiration Station, we’re mixing up our own play-doh from scratch, no store run required.
A special thanks to Locale 90 in Redondo Beach, California for having me! Did you know pizza dough and play dough share some similarities? Both involve stretching, shaping, and a whole lot of fun!
FOR GROWN-UPS:
If you would like to prepare in advance for this episode, here are the supplies needed and a few tips from me. Close adult supervision is always required.
What you need:
1 bowl
Spatula
Measuring spoons
Measuring cups
1 Pyrex measuring cup
1 stirring spoon
Air tight container to store play dough
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup of salt
2 tbsp of cream of tartar
1 tbsp of oil
4 drops of food coloring
¾ cup of boiling water (grown-ups only!)
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix together flour, salt, cream of tartar, and oil.
In a Pyrex measuring cup, add boiling water and stir in a few drops of food coloring.
Carefully combine the water mixture with the dry ingredients and knead until smooth. Make sure to wait for the mixture to cool before touching it with your hands.
Store in an air-tight container and reuse again and again!
