Who is Jackie Hunter?

In 1986, Jackie began her successful tenure with GlaxoSmithKline, working in a variety of roles from Group Director of Neurobehavioral Research and Senior Pharmacologist to Programme Manager of Pharmaceuticals. Before long, Jackie reached top managerial positions at GSK, initially working as the VP of Biology, before being promoted to Senior VP, Head of Neurology & GI CEDD for GSK. Jackie’s final role at GSK saw her working as the SVP of Science Environment Development, a role in which she pioneered the establishment of a 60,000sqm bioscience park at GSK’s R&D site and delivered an open innovation strategy to catalyse the adoption of OI culture across pharma R&D.

Since her success at GSK, Jackie has become the CEO of OI Pharma Partners – a firm with whom she continues her work to optimise the innovation of pharmaceutical sectors via technology such as AI. She is also renowned for having been the former CEO and Board Director of BenevolentAI, a pioneering organisation dedicated to AI-augmented drug discovery. Other prominent roles of Jackie’s have included being the Director of the UK Bio-Industry Association, a Visiting Professor at Imperial College London and St George’s Hospital Medical School, a NED of Chiltern International Plc and Proximagen Neuroscience and a Member of the Technology Advisory Board of British Petroleum. Such a variety of distinguished job roles have earned Jackie high praise throughout the industry, having been appointed CBE for Services to the Pharmaceutical Industry, named as one of the 50 Movers and Shakers in Bio-Business twice and one of the Top 20 Women Globally Advancing AI Research by Forbes.

Winner of the Women of Achievement in Science, Engineering & Technology award and the Astra Zeneca Women Pharmacology Prize, Jackie truly is a role model and pioneer in the pharmaceutical technology industry. As a seasoned keynote speaker, Jackie is sought to share her expertise worldwide, having already delivered keynote speeches on “Leadership and Innovation” for A-Star Singapore, “AI in Healthcare” for Sheffield University and “AI in Drug Discovery Comes of Age” at the ELRIG Conference.
