You might be shocked to know that sexual orientation changes current CDC guidelines on access to expedited partner therapy for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Expedited partner therapy allows physicians to prescribe medication to treat the sexual partners of their gonorrhea/chlamydia positive patients without requiring those partners to come to the office for an evaluation. This is currently thought to reduce transmission and reinfection rates, it is also currently only recommended for heterosexual patients. Let's talk about how that is a policy that should be re-evaluated.
