Welcome to this interview with the informative and friendly David Lane, of Caernarfon Airworld Museum, located at Caernarfon Airport, in Gwynedd, Gogledd Cymru / North Wales.
We spoke to David about the history of the airfield itself as RAF Llandwrog during WWII, the planes that flew from there then, and the founding of the RAF Mountain Rescue Service. He spoke about chemical weapons at the base, and then we moved onto the aircraft themselves:
• De Havilland Vampire
• Hawker Hunter
• Gloster Javelin
• Hawker Sea Hawk
• BAE T2 Harrier
• Tornado Engine
• BAE Systems Hawk T1
David has a wealth of knowledge, and we recommend both listening to him talk here (along with seeing our unique views of the museum), and visiting and talking to him yourself.
I have been visiting this airport and this museum since I was a small child in the late 80s and early 90s, and it has always fantastic.
