Mapping Change: Using High-Resolution Land and Hydrography Data in Restoration Decisions

The Chesapeake Bay Program has recently updated its 2013/14 and 2017/18 High-Resolution Land Use/Land Cover Data and Change Data and released a new dataset from 2021/22. Additionally, the partnership introduced a new Hyper-Resolution Hydrography Dataset to precisely identify the location, dimensions and connectivity of streams, ditches and other waterways. This newly released information provides a detailed understanding of how the land of the Bay watershed is being utilized and managed and how it has changed over time. These tools are used to track progress and direct planning for multiple goals and outcomes in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement.
