Photographing Sunrise at Joshua Tree National Park: Day 2

I woke up extra early to find a new hike where I could see far and wide over rolling fields of Joshua Trees. I put my limited climbing skills to use and scaled up some rocks to the highest point I could find on this mornings sunrise hike. Not long after the suns rays burst over the mountains to the east and started illuminating the Joshua Trees. There was still some mist in the air too, adding an extra glow to the scene too.

Sunrise in Joshua tree National park is always a great time to photograph too. It’s quiet and still, usually very clear with great light, and most of the time there aren’t many crowds out yet. It’s the ideal setup for some desert landscape photography!

While I’ve struggled in this location in the past, I think this time was much more of a success. I also felt much more rested after a great night of sleep in my Jeep car camping setup! Not many sounds to hear and no neighbors in tents meant a peaceful night of sleep.

I hope you enjoy the images from this short weekend landscape photography camping trip! I’m hopeful to find some more long weekends to make a trip to Zion, Sequoia, and Redwoods soon. Olympic National park is also squarely in the crosshairs too as I start to plan for 2022.
