Centre Console Plate Boat Restored + Modified Casting Deck by NQ Mono Hulls. Surtees Boats.

Our centre console plate boat is stripped bare. The Nyalic completely sanded back, and the plate boat was then acid washed, and coated with Penetrol for a clear and hardy finish by local, George from NQ Mono Hulls and boat builder for Samurai Plate Boats. Additionally, we asked NQ Mono Hulls to help with a few other boat projects.

Water was leaking into the floor, and the ballast was not sealed away from the existing fuel tank, as per the Surtees and Bar Crusher design. The fuel tank was welded in, and had to be ripped up, repaired and amended to suit the improved design, with water being kept out and away from the fuel tank.

The casting platform was extensively extended to allow for a large 185 litre ice box esky, fridge, and other storage items, with multiple access points and steps for easy access to the high casting platform.

Both the casting deck and steps were finished off with a personalised Surtees logo and large ruler design with the EVA Tread from Fibre Finish in Townsville.

The centre console was sanded and stripped from rubbers and glues as well as years of use, and given the full treatment including a new screen, new perspex and solid reinforcement.

The Surtees Pro Fisher 670 and Surtees Born to Fish stickers were ordered directly from the Surtees supplier in New Zealand. Both these stickers and our boat name and giant trevally pictures were applied by local signwriter, Neale Brown from Significant Signs.

We can't thank George and his team behind NQ Mono Hulls and Samurai Plate Boats enough for their quality of workmanship, care and attention to detail, as well as having an amazing attitude. Nothing was too much trouble and we were given honest feedback with everything. Can't wait to take G Banger for a spin!
