The Jagdtiger, or Hunting Tiger, was the heaviest and most powerful German tank destroyer of World War II. Based on the Tiger II, the turret was replaced by a fixed casement mounting a huge 128mm Pak 44 anti-tank gun. The front armour was almost 20 cm (7.9 inches) thick and completely proof against all Allied tank and antitank guns.
A well camouflaged Jagdtiger in a static position could inflict major damage on Allied tanks. However, all this weight and protection came at the cost of reliability. Many roads and bridges simply couldn’t take its weight, and with only around 85 Jagdtigers reaching the front from late 1944, it could not have a decisive impact on the war. The tank was plagued by breakdowns and a number of losses resulted from crew members’ inexperience.
THE KIT
For such a big vehicle it makes for an interesting 1/100 scale model. In this video you will see how I made. And also brush painted the ambush camouflage pattern on this tiny Jagdtiger model. Along with making a small diorama for it. Thank you for watching, liking, commenting, and sharing. And good luck with all your ongoing scale modelling projects.
