UPDATE JUL 2023: It has been 2 years since my mom is on tube feedling. She is no longer using the hand mittens as she had gotten used to NG tube. But in the beginning, the mittens were are lifesaver and necessary to prevent her from pulling out the tube.

One of the concerns in placing a person with Alzheimer's/dementia on tube feeding (who is no longer able to eat on their own) is the risk that they would attempt to pull out the tube. They definitely would. Hence having a comfortable hand restraints is a game changer and enable them to continue to receive hydration and nutrition via tube feeding.

We have been using these hand restraints for 3 months and my mom has regained energy and cheerfulness from the nutrition and hydration from tube feeding.

I discover a company called Maysa Medical that sells a one of a kind hand restraint that helps to cover the hand and prevent the person from pulling out the tube. I bought 2 pairs from them as well as another 2 pairs of open hand restraints. My mom adjusted very well to the restraints.

Tube feeding meals formula
These can be prepared at home using fresh ingredients (eg pumpkin, chicken, eggs, banana, vegetables, etc). This formula is approved by dieticans and doctors from Thai hospitals. My mom's tube feeding food is sourced from hospital and is based on these method of preparation:

DIY hand mittens:

Phlegm suction

Bed bath
