(Correction: It should be “Chapter XXVII” in the opening titles instead of “Chapter XXIII”.)
I was supposed to post this on the feast day of St. Augustine (one of the Early Church fathers) a few weeks ago but alas procrastination got the better of me. So here it is now, a reading of an excerpt from his work “Confessions”.
“Confessions” is St. Augustine’s autobiography on his sinful youth and his eventual conversion to Christianity. This piece of literature is regarded with admiration not only in the sacred world but also the secular.
The second picture (painting) used is Fra Angelico’s “Conversion of St. Augustine” from 1430. Here, he is seated under a fig tree in the garden of his Milanese friend, Alypse. St. Augustine is struck by a divine manifestation.
