Relatives of Buffalo Shooting Victims Speak after White Supremacist Receives Life Sentence

Family members of the victims of the supermarket massacre attended the case's hearing at US Court District on Thursday in Buffalo alongside their lawyers.

Relatives of the ten victims and lawyers were seen arriving at the building located in the second largest city of New York state.

"We have to put it on the table. America has to see what happened here. And this trial will literally put it out there, who and what America really is. And we have to deal with that," stated one of the family members.

"All of us we have to deal with that, this is all of our country, and we have to deal with racism, we have to deal with domestic terrorism, and we have to talk about it, we have to name those things. And, the only way to do that is to put racism on trial," she added.

Payton Gendron, the 19-year-old white shooter who killed 10 people and wounded three in a mass shooting at a Tops Market in Buffalo last May was sentenced to life in prison during a court hearing in the city on Wednesday.

On May 14, 2022, Gendron opened fire with an assault rifle in a supermarket, killing ten black people and wounding three others in a racially motivated act.

The shooter had written a manifesto describing himself as a white supremacist and live-streamed parts of the attack.
