KW Coilovers Variant 2 on a BMW E36 M3 | BMW suspension upgrade

http://www.autowerksofamerica.com/ KW Coilovers are becoming a more popular option for BMW and other German car owners. The build quality is good and the construction materials mean that you won't have to worry about rust. They offer products both for street and racing applications.

We're performing a suspension upgrade on an 1997 BMW M3. KW offers four coilover possibilities for this car.

Variant 1 allows you to change the ride height
Variant 2 allows you to change the ride height and the rebound damping
Variant 3 allows you to change the ride height and both the rebound and the compression damping

The club sport package is more aggressive, but can also be used on the street has an additional expansion reservoir. It also comes with adjustable camber plates.

I selected variant 2 to give me some damping adjustability without having to manage the complexity of the additional variable of compression damping.

Here's what's in the box.

The struts have the springs mounted already, you can see the shocks here and the springs were packed well with protective foam that I've already removed.

The toolbox comes with instructions, a spanner wrench, a nice purple knob with the hex key and this pin. The pin is for the variant 3 package, so I don't need it. They've included some stickers as well, but I haven't decided if I'll put them on my car.

For this application swaybar links are included. 5mm Front wheel spacers are recommended but not included. They have to be sourced separately, but we can help you with that.

Here's a closeup of the strut damping. You can't see it, but there's a slight detent feel to the adjustment to help you track how many "clicks" you've gone in either direction.

The knob is also used to tighten the lock screw on the ride height adjusting ring, but the instructions caution you to be careful with the torque.
