It was created by the Exhibit Supply Company, a leading manufacturer of coin-operated machines, in the 1930s. The "Ask the Brain" machine was just one of many types of fortune telling machines produced by the Exhibit Supply Company, which also made machines that dispensed horoscopes, love fortunes, and more. These machines were often found in amusement parks, boardwalks, and other places where people gathered for entertainment.

Although the popularity of fortune telling machines declined in the latter half of the 20th century, they remain a nostalgic reminder of a bygone era. Today, vintage "Ask the Brain" machines are highly collectible and can fetch high prices at auctions and antique stores.
