Physics of Cymbals - A Resonance Demonstration

The vibrational behavior of cymbals is incredibly complex and usually can only be thought about theoretically. But in this video I got lucky and I found a situation with one of my cymbals that allowed me to actually film some of how it's vibrating, and show it in slow motion.

I try to give a quick and practical explanation of some of the principals of vibration and resonance so that you don't need to know anything going in, but every piece of terminology and concept could probably have its own dedicated video. So if you find this kind of thing interesting, I recommend that you do a web search for words like: Resonance, harmonics, overtones, and of course physics.
