The challenge was to backpack south to north across Dartmoor National Park in Devon, from Ivybridge Railway Station to Okehampton Railway Station, exploring new parts of Dartmoor that I had not walked before.
The start of the trip was delayed due to a broken down train and a missed connection but I finally arrived in Ivybridge late on Sunday afternoon. A hard 3 hour hike up the Two Moors Way allowed me to wild camp at Dry Lake Ford as planned.
Day 2 - was sunny and oh so hot for September, after packing up #leavenotrace I crossed the northern half of the south moor passing through areas I had not walked before, Fox Tor, Whiteworks. After crossing the B3212 I was on the north moor and making for my wild camping spot just north of Higher White Tor where permitted camping was allowed.

I arrived early at Higher White so decide to push on passing, Lower White Tor, the East Dart waterfalls (Ref. SX 627 810), Sittaford Tor, Quintin’s Man and Whitehorse Hill. My final resting spot for the night was Hangingstone Hill, with 360 degree views, a chat with another wild camper, a wonderful sunset and a late meal under the stars.
