I’ve officially moved all of my workloads from XCP-NG to Proxmox VE, so now it’s time to dive into Proxmox Datacenter Manager. Both of my servers are fully switched over, and I’m no longer running XCP-NG in my homelab. I migrated my remaining VMs using OVA exports, and we’ll talk about what went smoothly, what didn’t, and what to keep in mind if you’re planning a similar move.
We’ll also walk through migration planning, common issues, and how Proxmox handles virtualization, storage, and hardware passthrough in a real homelab environment.
🔹 Topics covered:
XCP-NG vs Proxmox VE
Real-world migration experience using OVA
Migration strategies and tools
Proxmox Datacenter Manager overview
VM & container management
PCI & USB passthrough basics
Homelab best practices
Whether you’re running a small homelab or planning a larger self-hosted setup, this stream should help you make informed decisions.
