In support of the U. S. Army’s modernization efforts, Paratroopers from 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division are currently operating and assessing the Arcturus JUMP 20 as part of a Future Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems capabilities demonstration.
UAS Operators from within the brigade will conduct training exercises with the Arcturus JUMP 20 for six months in order to provide feedback on its force integration and help the Army determine what is needed to eventually replace the RQ-7 Shadow drone.
The JUMP 20 can be deployed in virtually any environment by taking off and touching down vertically. Along with this capability, a major attribute is the difference in noise level and ease of maintenance compared to the RQ-7 Shadow.
Army modernization efforts are researching platforms and technologies in order to increase the maneuverability, endurance, lethality, and survivability of Army aircraft on the battlefields of the future.
